Small in stature, but a giant in terms of kindness, Marie Inabnet Gerhart, a Monroe Swiss Singers member since 1976, died Thursday, October 30, 1997, just days before our 31st Annual Swiss Fest.

Born July 2, 1922 in Junction City, WI, Marie was the daughter of John and Marie Glaus Inabnet, and married Dr. Warren Gerhart in 1946 in Madison, WI. Very proud of her Swiss heritage, Marie held dual citizenships in the United States and Switzerland, her family having originated in Wilderswil, canton Bern.

In addition to the Monroe Swiss Singers, Marie was also active at St. Victor Catholic Church in Monroe, the American Legion Auxiliary to Zilmer-Riley Post 84, the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary and Women of the Monroe Moose Lodge.

Marie was a loving wife, mother to three daughters and a son, grandmother to seven, and great-grandmother to two. Her husband, Warren, joined her in eternal life on December 6, 2001.

Our Marili was a spiritual and gentle soul, who will always be with us.
